About us

Maastricht Housing is the only non-commercial mediator in Maastricht for the institutes, Maastricht University, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and the Jan van Eyck Academy. It is a platform with the most complete range of housing for (future) students, staff and interns.

If you study at one of these three institutes and want to live in Maastricht you can become a memer of Maastricht Housing. The main objective of Maastricht Housing is to support students and staff in finding qualitative and affordable housing.

Housing Corporations

Maastricht Housing has a unique partnership with the three official housing corporations in Maastricht: Woonpunt, Maasvallei and Servatius. Maastrichthousing.com is the largest platform in Maastricht where you can find all their offers. You must be registered at Maastricht Housing to qualify for housing. The offers of the housing corporations are very popular and are managed through a subscription list. A longer registration time at Maastricht Housing gives you more chances to rent such housing.

Note: Students from outside the EU and employees (PhD) will receive standard extra registration time to qualify more quickly for housing. For some housing you may receive a rental subsidy (indicated at our website).

Most of the supply of the housing corporation is unfurnished. However, it is sometimes possible to take over some furniture of a departing tenant. Most housing is situated in good and safe locations. The period of notice is only one month. You do not have to pay a deposit or other fees.

Private Market

In addition to the supply of the housing corporations Maastricht Housing also offers housing from a wide range of private owners and brokers on a first come, first serve base (there is no subscription list for this type of housing).

The private market offers both furnished and unfurnished rooms, studios, apartments and houses. In contrast to the housing corporations you always pay a rent deposit and sometimes brokerage/administration costs. The first year is often contracted for a minimum of 12 months.

UM Guesthouse

UM Guesthouse is the ideal location for students who search for a furnished place. Minimum stay is 3 months, maximum 12 months. The UM Guesthouse offers single and double rooms and studios at more than 10 locations in Maastricht.

The UM Guesthouse is ideal for exchange students, but regular bachelor and master students are more than welcome as well. The UM Guesthouse can be reserved from all over the world and works via a first come, first serve basis. It’s the perfect solution if you want to secure housing well in advance of your stay in Maastricht.

The Housing Helpdesk

The Housing Helpdesk was established in February 2015 by Maastricht University (UM) and the municipality of Maastricht. Experience has taught us that students regularly face problems concerning their rent or their accommodation. Students who live in Maastricht or in one of the neighbouring municipalities can now turn to the Housing Helpdesk with such issues. They can give you information, advice and if necessary contact your landlord to address the problem. If the problem can´t be solved, they will guide you to the "Huurcommissie" (Rental Tribunal). The Rental Tribunal is an independent national organisation which can adjudicate when there is a dispute between tenants and landlords.

The Housing Helpdesk is made possible by Maastricht University, the Maastricht municipality, Police Department, Fire Brigade and Handhaving. Working together they can approach problems in many different ways and aim to solve your problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.
